Vintage Sterling Turquoise Navajo Squash Blossom Necklace. Measures 23.5 in length, weight 54 grams = 1.9oz. Naja is 1"x 1 3/8" with three turquoise stones varying in color. This is a stunning vintage Navajo squash blossom necklace, crafted in sterling silver with natural turquoise and believed to date from the 1940s to 1960s. It features 11 individually formed squash blossom ornaments on each side, and a traditional naja pendant set with 3 natural turquoise cabochons. The beads are strung on traditional silver wire, consistent with construction techniques used in high-quality mid-century Native jewelry.

The Navajo (Dine) Tribe is credited with the origin of the squash blossom dating back to the 1870's. This piece is unmarked, which is typical of authentic period Navajo work made for trading posts or private collectors prior to hallmarking becoming widespread.
