The Turquoise cabochon measures approximately 30 mm x 12 mm and has a couple of chips typical of wear.A couple of important things - Jacob Livingston was born in 1946 as Jacob Haloo, Jr. To a Navajo father and Zuni mother and started creating jewelry in the 1970s. In 1988 he won the Artist of the Year award from the Indian Arts and Crafts Association. The #8 mine has produced some of the largest and most coveted Turquoise in the US. The mine is thought to be long depleted and the majority of the #8 Spiderweb Turquoise was pulled in the early 1950s. One of the rarest and most expensive forms of Turquoise, #8 is only used in the highest quality jewelry by the best artists. The Spider-webbing matrix has been known to be black (the rarest), golden red and brown and the brighter the Blues, the more'gem quality' the stone is considered.
