Vintage Native American Turtle Fetish Necklace Hematite Bead Carved Gemstones
NATIVE AMERICAN FETISH NECKLACE HEMATITE BEAD CARVED GEMSTONE ANIMALS ZUNI. This gorgeous 1970s necklace features 21 hand carved gemstone spirit animals and a stunning hand carved turtle at the center, a gorgeous stately piece and full of beautiful Native American symbolism. His descendants still crafted in his handed down style, today. While turquoise, shells, coral, and jet were commonly used materials in Zuni jewelry and fetishes, such as this piece beautifully shows. Birds Bears Badgers Natural Turquoise, Coral, Zuni Rock and and fine heishi shell all strung on string, hematite and sterling silver beads add a cool and smooth elegance to this vintage piece and allow for ease of wear, keeping your neck cool and unburdened while adding a healing element to this necklace.
Hematite is a strong grounding stone, I believe to connect the wire to the earths energy and create a sense of stability and balance. Hematite's reflective and grounding nature is thought to bolster self-esteem and enhance decision-making abilities, leading to increased confidence. This fetish necklace is in mint condition, showing minimal size of its age with slight oxidation, patina, or very light surface scratches (though I did not see any). The clasp is handcrafted from sterling, with handmade beads and wire twist at closure to assure a sturdy yet, stunning lobster clasp sterling closure and fit. Measurements are Approximate: L: 34" L & W of Center Turtle Carving: 1-1/4" X 1" L & W of each of the 20 gemstones (approximately): 1" X 1/2 each. Unfortunately, I do not have the time to get every vintage/antique item professionally certified, most if not all of these pieces have an artist signature, stamp or some other Hallmark which should give enough indicator of authenticity validation.
