Vintage Native American Basket 11
Vintage Native American Basket 11. The Ye'kuana who inhabit Southern Venezuela and parts of Brazil are a relatively small indigenous group. Approximately 3,500 people live in the Orinoco Basin of Venezuela. Their name means "people of the rivers". They live in small villages along the shores of several rivers in this basin, relying on the water for their livelihood. While the majority of the baskets are woven by the men, the wuwa or tall burden basket is woven by the Ye'Kuana women.
